"Montana Mermaid" is finished! We're submitting it to festivals now. Hope you can join us for a future screening. In the meantime, here's a synopsis and trailer:
"Montana Mermaid explores the making of an original ballet and the magical nature of the creative process. Inspired by the famous 19th Century Andersen tale of The Little Mermaid, Artistic Director Elizabeth DeFanti reinterprets the story in a manner culturally relevant for new generations of artists and viewers. Integrating the talents of a composer, dancers, costume, set, and lighting designers, we see collective imagination take form tracing the Mermaid’s journey from disavowing her true nature, to grappling with the impact of her choices, to ultimately reclaiming her whole self. Viewers are provided an intimate view into an extraordinary gathering of artistic forces to create a new, yet familiar story that can now fulfill what we all might wish for: that our daughters and sons have an unshakable faith in their innate goodness and worth, simply by being who they already are." Shot two episodes Military Makeover for Brandstar Productions. The Virginia City Treaty of 1868, negotiated and signed almost 150 years ago by Chief Tendoy. It was signed, in good faith, by the US government and tribal members, but never ratified. Though never ratified, the US took all that was promised to them and, in return, granted the tribe an Executive Order reservation, a far cry from the terms of the treaty.
